I am a bit of a sucker for Podcast interviews, but this is the first one I have done which has been purely focused on the leadership side of my role and more specifically, the people leadership aspect.
I first came across Tim Roberts when I started my coaching journey and came across the Coaching Culture Conference, this inspired me to buy and read his book “Break the Mould” and then because I was so inspired by this, I bought copies for my leadership team and we are planning a workshop based on his “Map of the World” and “No-Moan Zone” activities in the new year and hopefully, may even get Tim along. 🙂
When Tim launched the podcast, I actively listened every week and even when making the decision to remove work related podcasts from my long list of episodes to listen to from various podcasts, I kept Tim’s in because even though it is technically work, it’s so easy to listen to and I genuinely feel I learn from it every time. So when the message came from Tim asking if I’d like to be a guest, I jumped at the opportunity.
Straight away, my imposter syndrome kicked in as I’m not a Coach and I’m not working in a People or HR team, but Tim was very adamant that I was a leader of people who is “walking the walk”.
Tim is much more prepared than a lot of podcast hosts and sends a list of potential questions before and also prepares his listeners with coaching questions off the back of the interview based on what was discussed.
I really enjoyed chatting with Tim and it felt like talking to a friend rather than being grilled in an interview. I’d encourage anyone one reading this to go and listen to tim’s other episodes and also buy the book if you haven’t already!
As predicted, the hardest question of the lot was my music recommendation, and anyone who knows me, will know what band I picked for the album, but I suspect the song choice may have been a surprise. But here’s my all time favourites I could’ve picked from.
So without spoiling the great questions and discussions, have a listen to the episode here and let me know what you think!
